Cliffe Ponds at Night, Kent
THE SHOT : Cliffe Ponds at Night, Kent
THE STORY : I'd been on a *mission* this evening. My goal was to capture the shipwreck that lies at the mouth of the River Thames. The wreck is only accessible at low tide, and it's a good 2 & a half mile trek from the nearest road. I'd made it in time for dusk, but then got sidetracked with other cool stuff to shoot, so before I knew it I was making my way back in complete darkness with only my torch for company.
This was the last shot of the day and I took some time over it. I used my fixed 14mm Samyang lens to get as much in the frame as possible, then perched myself on a somewhat perilous slope, just above the thick oooze of the mudflats. Luckily the wind died down and the tripod was steady ... I *love* discoveries like this, and they only ever happen when you place yourself in the moment.
